The various animals are based on other virus :--
SV40 vectors,Bovine papillamovirus vectors,
Retrovirus vectors, etc
And transposable elements are
Drosophila P elements vectors;
It may be pointed out that some of the mammalian vectors, early or late region replacement SV40 vectors, retrovirus vectors, etc, behave like viruses in that they produce virions( virions are those process or things which infect the host cell).
Some other vectors are like bacterial plasmids, e.g, SV40-based plasmid vectors, bovine papillamovirus vectors and polyoma virus vectors; these vectors have to be introduced in the cells using a suitable transfection technique . Most of the vectors are replicating in that they have the ability to replicate in suitable animal host cells , but some of them are non-replicating, for example the passive transformation SV40 vectors; the latter are used to carry DNA sequences into the host cells for integration into the animal genomes .
A fish vectors
A typical fish vector is a plasmid, for example-pRSV. These vectors are helpful to use because they contain a selectable marker , e.g ampicillin resistance (amp), and the origin of replication (ori) from E.Coli plasmid such as pBR322, and an enhancer or we can say promoter sequence ( SV40 or Roux Sarcoma Virus promoter), a multiple cloning site for Insertion of the DNA insert and a termination site including site including the poly-adenylation site .
